Desperate and confused contemplation in the chips and dips isle

Anna Paquin in Josh Goot - Marie Claire UK by Frederic Pinet, February 2010
I don’t know about anyone else, but personally, I always pose in desperate and confused contemplation while in the chips and dips isle, so I can totally relate. :P

2010 New Year's Written in the Stars

This year I welcomed the new year perhaps like never before. Call it wishful thinking, optimism, silly childishness. I call it a gut feeling. Things are going to be okay. More than okay. Sure, I may not get totally yummy rich this year, monetarily, but it'll be rich in happiness and worthwhile experience.

New Year's day was not any different this year than any other day. It never is. I mean really, is it ever? No. But there's something in the air. I don't think it's just me.

I'd wanted to write about this before on this blog of mine, but you know, everyone and their mother seems to normally be talking about New Years, resolutions, the lot. I figured I'd write one: bringing in the new year - superstitions, resolutions, aftermath, new beginnings and that would be that. And I beat the crowd by a couple of months, giving this particular article time to rank and become searchable. (Good thinking). But then, you know, sometimes you write something and any more seems like you're beating a dead horse (ugly and unecessary).

But now, at almost two weeks into the New Year, I'm realizing that this wonderful new year, the beginning of a new decade, is one to truly sing about. I've been going to sleep happy and looking forward to the next day, in a kid-like way, you know, how you used to once upon a time. And I've been waking up happy and ready to face the day. I've had more energy (I think it's the happiness) and my body is behaving. Now, I'm nicely figured, not waterlogged. Happy does that.

So why now and not this time last year? Well, I don't know. Some believe it's all in the stars. I'm inclined to think this is a possibility this year. What else would explain the lovely e-mails I received?

First and foremost, Mutual Omaha no longer thinks I'm 85. That's a relief. I haven't heard from them in about a month now. Chances are they hired someone to clean up the loose ends... you know, to find out who's dead now and who's much younger than the company thought they were.

This next one came in the form of a love letter:

This is difficult for me to do because I'm shy.. but I have a crush on you. I've never been able to tell you for reasons which you would quickly identify as obvious if you knew who this was. With that said, I want you to guess who I am, and approach me yourself.

To help you out with your guessing I made a few pictures and videos with ''Michelle'' written on my body. They're kind of risque photos so I had to make a profile at CAMSPACEONLINE.COM and post them there. I made my username on the site ''MichelleandME09''. (It's a free website but you might need a CC or Debit to verify your age because I had to. Sigh.)

But anyway sign up at CAMSPACEONLINE.COM and once you are inside search for ''MichelleandME09''. I want you to guess who I am and then approach me yourself. I'm shy and this is the bravest thing I've probably ever done, but you need to do the rest.

Secret Admirer?
haha. Bye

And then there's this brief, but poignant letter from Darlene:

is everyone doing well Michelle?

hate to ask this, this person at burger king last week reminded me of you.

but can u look over this, i put a lot of time into it you can check it out on here,

sincerely, me

Oh, and then of course there's an Esquire who wants me to be his next of kin. Imagine me, the next of kin to a British esquire. Makes being related to Austrian royalty seem frivolous.
It feels good to be so loved by people who think they know you that apparently you should know even though *blush* you don't.

So you see, I believe, if the moons and stars and planets and black holes weren't aligned just so... well, who know what kind of year this could turn out to be. Seems to me, though, 2010 is going going to be a stellar one.
