Elvis' Last Concert

Yesterday, Thursday, marked the day of Elvis' last concert some 30 years ago. Sad but true.

My mother loved Elvis tremendously. He came to St. Louis to do a concert and my father wouldn't take her. I don't remember why. I don't ever remember that she wanted to go. I just remember her exploding with it one day, years later.

When he died, she took it hard. You could tell. It was, looking back on it now, as though a piece of her youth had gone with him. His movies played for days on the local chanel and she watched, and so did I.

I have to admit that I too was in love with Elvis. I don't know a girl in her right mind who wouldn't be. He was so handsome (the younger him), so talented, so smooth and suave, so gentlemanly, so cool, and so sexy. Sometimes I wished I were born in another era, just so I'd have the chance to see the him - maybe in person! Alas, but not alack, for I had his movies to keep my fantasies alive.

It was his movies, more than his songs, that I loved. So very very much. I was glad he had done som many.

In honor of his last concert, I present to you some clips of movies he was in. I'm not going to go digging for the "just right" ones, I'll just post what I get to first. It doesn't matter anyway, because there was nothing he didn't do without perfection.

Enjoy.

Thanks for a lovely trip down memory lane-- I have to admit I loved Elvis too as a kid:-)Sad what booze, drugs, and life did to the King in the end.

Gosh, has it been 30 years already?? Seems like just yesterday. A friend had tickets for what turned out to be the last concert but got sick and couldn't go. Said she'd go to the next concert, but then there wasn't a "next".

Love the "The End" photo! Also the blog background! And you got the translator installed! Bravo!!

I know Pinkpackrat. That was just so horrible. I really do my best to just remember his usual self. And I think my lucky stars that I'm not as famous either (notice I didn't say as rich lol).

Jama, yes, can you believe it? Oh that's horrible about your friend. What bum luck. I'm starting to feel this way about Aerosmith. It never works out for me. (I know, but I can't help it, I love them, especially Steven Tyler, sad but true).

I love the The End photo too. The second I saw that I knew I had to put it in.

I've been having problems moving pictures up or down in edit post mode. Anyone else having that problem. It never used to be one, but now if I don't get it right with order, I'm screwed.

And yes, you beat me to it. I was going to announce my success, in fact I suppose I still will. I think I was not trying to install that particular one. It's the best one you know. Does the best translations. Thank you, thank you.

Ah yes, my fourth of July background, the explination of that is going to be in the same post.

Frieda, I had problems moving images too until I learned to **only** do it "Edit HTML" (while in Edit Post).

You can't do it with the crosshairs of the mouse tho. You have reposition the CODE for the image you want to move.

The code begins with and ends with . Just start hi-liting at and stop after , then right-click CUT, put the cursor wherever you want the image to appear, and right-click PASTE.

That's all there is to it.
